“End of the Spear” is now availiable on DVD. Get it here.

This movie tells the story of Nate Saint and his fellow missionaries who were martyred by Auca Indians while trying to reach them with the gospel. One of my favorite things about this movie is that it doesn’t stop with their matyrdom, but shows the ministry that their wives had among this group after they died. They led the same men that killed their husbands to Christ.

As we used to say in the Corps, if you haven’t seen this movie “YOU’RE WRONG!” I am pretty sure that I missed the boat on the release date for this movie, but I felt that I should put it up here anyway.

Fill Up » How to Get Free Books

This List from crosswalk.com gives you access to hundreds of great Christians books that are online for free. I am usually not interested in online books, but I found some incredible stuff on these sites.

William Carey’s “An Inquiry” is the book that is credited with starting the modern missions movement of the last 200 years. It is available for free here. An excerpt:

Since the apostolic age many other attempts to spread the gospel have been made, which have been considerably successful, notwithstanding which a very considerable part of mankind are still involved in all the darkness of heathenism. Some attempts are still making, but they are inconsiderable in comparison of what might be done if the whole body of Christians entered heartily into the spirit of the divine command on this subject. Some think little about it, others are unacquainted with the state of the world, and others love their wealth better than the souls of their fellow-creatures.

In order that the subject may be taken into more serious consideration, I shall enquire, whether the commission given by our Lord to his disciples be not still binding on us, - take a short view of former undertakings, - give some account of the present state of the world, - consider the practicability of doing something more that is done, - and the duty of Christians in general in this matter.

Still sounds like a good read.

The definitive work on Hudson Taylor’s life is available here in the original two volumes. The book starts with the conversion of Hudson’s grandfather on his wedding day. It is an amazingly story, including how he then led his new bride to Christ.

Thanks to Phillip at fillup.org for finding this one on evangelicaloutpost.com.

I am especially burdened by the Mother India” video with Caedmon’s Call “Mother India playing in the background. I am totally crying for the person in the “hands that touch the untouchables” part of the song. King Jesus move mightily to rescue these people trapped in darkness with no light shining about them.

Invisible Children - Google Video

Invisible Children is available for free on google video. I discovered this today and was pretty excited about it. It is pretty sweet deal. You can download it for Windows or Mac and you can pick between different formats, including versions that are compatible with a Video iPod or a PSP.
I have been thinking for a while that this should be available somewhere for free. Now you can take my “Do you have a Soul” challenge.

PBS Frontlines is a documentary program on PBS that you can watch online here for free. They have several international documentaries that give key insight into other cultures. I have watched and really enjoyed the one about “Tank Man”, the man that stood in front of the tanks during the Tiananmen Square massacre and defied them passage. You’ll learn a ton about the whole revolution movement that was sweeping the country and how it affected the future of China.

Check it out and please report back any other note worth documentaries.

If you haven’t seen the movie “Invisible Children” yet, you need to head over to their website and get it. You can take my “Do you have a Soul?” challenge. If you watch the movie and don’t cry then I don’t think you have a soul. Interested yet?

If you have already seen it, then check out their “A Musical to Believe In”, a good and humorous response to those who ask if they really think people can make a difference. Make sure to check out the other videos they have. I cannot believe the amount of people that showed up for their Global Commute Night.

This movie is an important movie for Christians to watch so that they will understand that there are many countries with similar tragedies going on. This is the plight of the unreached. Nate Saint once said:

“I would rather die than live a life of ease in so sick a world!

These three young men have given us an incredible look into the lives of these “Invisible Children” of Uganda. Also, we need to remember that the same thing is going on India, Taiwan, Cambodia, and numerous other African countries.

We as middle to upper class westeners need to be careful not to wall ourselves off from horrors of the world. We have the ability to block out and screen any unpleasant images like these. We need to be aware of tragedies like that of the millions of street children and child prostitutes in India. In the words of Keith Green, “this generation is responsible for this generation of souls on the Earth.”

What do you guys think?
